The alchemist is a book written to persuade everyone to listen to their hearts and chase their dreams.
The alchemist believes if you don't listen to your heart, for whatever reason, then you will live your life with constant fear of the unknown and unable to live a fulfilling life. This book is about one young man's journey to realizing his dreams.
I would reccommend this book because it can be a very positive influence on the mind.
 Portuguese Edition Needed to send to Brazil WORLD VISION child.Mar 14, 2010
I've examined the available chapter pages online. I am interested to send this to a child I sponsor in Brazil through the WORLD VISION organization. I am not sure how to send this internationally. I see only a Spanish and English translation. Anyone know of a Portuguese edition available? I would be trying to ship it to Brazil.

I'm sorry to say that The Alchemist has to be the biggest disappointment for me(when it comes to reading) in 2009. I really cannot understand what is so life changing about this story. I probably make it sound like I hated this book, that's not the case but I was just really disappointed after all the hype about this book.

This was a great book, I read it in about two days. It's an easy read and a simple style. I got about halfway through the book before I decided to download it in Portuguese as well. Now that I'm through the English translation, I've gone back and started to read the Portuguese version. I would recommend it for anyone who speaks Portuguese as a second language, as lots of Brazilian literature is complex and hard to work through, this book is simple and to the point.
